Welcome to Remote Therapy

What to Expect from Therapy

Therapy is a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges. This page explains what you can expect to help you feel prepared and confident.

👋
First Session
Your therapist will ask about your goals, background, and concerns to understand your needs. You'll discuss what brings you here and what you hope to achieve.
🔄
Ongoing Sessions
Each session lasts 50 minutes. You'll work together to explore issues, develop coping strategies, and track progress toward your goals.
🎯
Tailored Approach
Therapy is personalised. Your therapist may use techniques like talking, mindfulness, or goal-setting — whatever works best for you.

🔒
A Safe Space
Therapy is confidential and judgment-free. You can share openly at your own pace — there's no pressure to cover everything at once.
🌊
Emotional Range
You may feel relief, discomfort, or a mix of emotions as you explore challenges. This is completely normal and a natural part of growth.
🤝
Collaboration
You and your therapist are a team. You'll set the direction, and they'll guide you with expertise and care.

1
Be Open
Share honestly to help your therapist understand you better. The more they know about your situation, the more they can tailor their support to you.
2
Stay Engaged
Therapy works best with regular attendance and active participation. Consistency makes a real difference in achieving your goals.
3
Apply Skills
Use techniques discussed in sessions — like deep breathing or mindfulness — in your everyday life. Progress happens between sessions too.

Improved self-awareness and emotional clarity
Better coping skills for stress, anxiety, and other challenges
Stronger relationships and communication
Meaningful progress toward your personal goals

How long does therapy take?

It varies from person to person. Some people see meaningful progress in just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term work. You and your therapist will discuss what's right for you as you go.

Will it feel uncomfortable?

Sometimes, yes. Discussing difficult topics can be challenging, but working through them is what leads to meaningful growth. Your therapist will support you at every step and go at a pace that feels manageable.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. Everything discussed in therapy is confidential. The only exceptions are rare circumstances involving safety concerns — your therapist will explain these at the start of your first session.

📋
Before your appointment
Jot down any thoughts, feelings, or questions you'd like to discuss. You don't need to have it all figured out — even a rough idea helps.
🗣
During the session
Feel free to ask questions about the process or share any concerns. Your therapist wants to hear from you — there are no wrong things to say.
💭
After the session
Take a moment to reflect on what came up and try any strategies your therapist suggested. Small steps between sessions add up over time.
